Richard Busellato
Co Founder

Richard Busellato is a senior investment manager with three decades of experience taking investment risks in hedge funds and financial institutions. He joined Sweden’s oldest merchant bank in 1990 as a market maker after university, moving to manage JPBank’s whole balance sheet, progressing to proprietary trading for Tokai Bank, before moving to the hedge fund world as a portfolio manager with Moore Capital. He was a Director at Bank of America during the Great Financial Crisis in charge of managing substantial investments and later partner of LindenGrove Capital with strategies taking advantage of central banks’ ultra-low rate policies. He join Horizon Asset Ltd in 2017 as a special advisor to develop the business.

Over the thirty years, he has profitably navigated investments across Black Wednesday, ERM, Peso, Asian crises, Russia default, dot.com bubble, GFC, disruptive technology, the central bank/QE bubble and more to learn that to survive you have to be brutally honest with risk. Planetary risks cannot be hedged nor can they be divested or diversified away.

Richard co-founded Rethinking Choices and co-authored their book The Unsustainable Truth. He sees the current situation as fundamentally a global portfolio issue requiring us to address our excessive financial, operational and climate leverage. As a firm believer in capital markets, he sees capital markets have a fundamental role in bringing all players from regulators, investors, to individuals together to achieve the necessary deleveraging.
